George Smith

George David “Dave” Smith died Aug. 22, 2024, at the age of 80.

Born November 13th 1943 – Headed for NEW Hunting grounds August

22nd 2024.

Dave was born in Kellogg Idaho to George Duncan and Lois Amelia (Gray) Smith. Dave’s Father was accidentally Killed by a dead tree when Dave was 7 years old. His mother then moved to the Seattle area with Dave and his two brothers (Chris and Gary). Dave went to Garfield where during his junior year was Class President. Before his Senior year, Lois (mom) moved the family to Maple Valley where Dave graduated from Tahoma High School.

After graduation Dave joined the Air Force in 1963 where he proudly served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He attained the rank of Airman First Class and was honorably discharged in 1971. During his military life, he met and married Donna Ragsdale in 1965 (later divorced) and together they had Two daughters Dina (Valentine) of Elma WA and Debi (Rousselange) of Long Prairie Minnesota.

After serving his country Dave went to work for the WA, ST. Parks Dept where he worked in the maintenance division until he retired in 2005.

Around 1974 he met Judith (Judy) Collins (Mueller) and eventually married on Sept 11th 1982. Dave & Judy enjoyed Hunting, Fishing and Going Jeeping Together.

Retired and still with a passion for the outdoors and hunting. Dave took a job as Gate Security for both Palmer Coking Coal and EMF in and around Black Diamond and Cumberland areas. This was perfect for he could do his work and look for game for the upcoming hunting Season.

He always knew where they were at and for those of us that hunted with him we would pull up along side him in his Truck and ask him if he’d seen anything – Dave’s Standard Reply – “Just Tracks, Looks like a Cow and a Calf” Well ol’ Buddy, keep on Looking for us!!

Dave will be missed by all of us. He was definitely one of the good Ones! Rest in Peace Friend. Services will be held on Sept 15th 2024 at the VFW Hall in Enumclaw – 44426 244th Ave SE from 12 pm to 3 pm.
