Gerald Allen Moriarty transitioned peacefully into his heavenly home on 06/25/23. Jerry was a friend to all he met. And he never failed to pass on the word of God to his fellow travelers. Born in Buckley Washington on 2/23/1936 he shared a home in the outskirts of Enumclaw with 11 brothers and sisters. Robert (Bud), Richard, Patrick, Michael, Pug, Florence, Irene, Betty, Ada, Sue, and Myrna, children of William Harvey Moriarty and L’Nor (Babe) Moriarty. Jerry is the last of his siblings to pass away.
Jerry is survived by wife Nancy, 4 children, Shane (Megan) granddaughters Emma and Finley, Kelly (Eric), William, Belinda (Dennis), and numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His youngest son Seth preceded him in death in September of 2021 and daughter Diana in May of 2023.
Jerry’s greatest love was being in the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, camping and hiking in the mountains were his passions and these loves he passed onto his children. He lived in various locations through his life and enjoyed the country side of each area. In 1974 he moved back to Washington and settled in Buckley.
He worked as a laborer and warehouse man for various different companies in cities where he resided. He is a member of the Buckley Eagles and was a Friday night regular hoping to win the Queen of Hearts raffle. He also enjoyed his time spent at the Senior Centers in Buckley and Enumclaw. He loved company and was his happiest with a single friend or a houseful of people to tell tales with. In his later years he sat down at the computer and wrote eight Western novels. He also took up the hobby of making jewelry. Selling his books and necklaces at local Bazaars was something he looked forward to all year.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Buckley Eagles on August 19,2023 at 2:00 PM.
