Irene E. Balliet, 83, died Sept. 25, 2017.

She was born Irene Elaine Smith on Aug. 3, 1934, in Glassboro, New Jersey. She moved to Bonney Lake, Washington, with her husband and her children in 1978. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and played piano for countless years for her church. She also loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by siblings Nevin Smith, Evangeline Preston, Richard Smith and Twila Metzgar; children Patricia Sloan, Cheryl Balliet, Darlene Egbert and Terry Kappenman; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A private family celebration of her life will take place Nov. 4, 2017.
