Former area resident Ivan Jess “Bud” Bushnell died Nov. 13, 2018, at Dolphin Cove Care Center in Tokeland, Washington. He was 89.
He was born on April 13, 1929, in Sterling, Colorado, to William Sanford and Carrie M. (Bowen) Bushnell. His family moved to Bonney Lake when he was an infant. He attended school in Sumner and joined the Air Force in 1947, serving as a machinist until his discharge in 1950. He then worked for Boeing for a short time. He remained in Bonney Lake until moving to Eatonville in 1966. He worked for Corliss and Sons of Sumner as an operating engineer, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for 60 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had been a resident of Grayland, Washington, since 1991.
He is survived by daughters Judy Arbuckle and Louise Brewer (Pete) of Grayland; stepsons Fritz Bushnell of Tacoma and Robert Bushnell (Carla) of Spanaway, Washington; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
There will be a private family gathering at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
