James Oddvin “Jim” Gunderson, 73, died Dec. 14, 2010, in Seattle, following a two-month battle with cancer.
He was born June 2, 1937, in Enumclaw to Oddvin “Archie” and Mildred (French) Gunderson. He graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1955 and attended Pacific Lutheran University. He graduated from the University of Iowa with both a master’s degree and doctorate. He began his career in computers with IBM in 1960 at Cape Canaveral, Fla. He enjoyed family genealogy, a hobby that spanned almost 30 years.
He is survived by wife Judith “Judy” Kay Gunderson; sons Gary James Gunderson and Eric Archie Gunderson; sisters Karen Sohl and husband Don and Jean Opland and husband Floyd; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Dec. 18, at Hope Lutheran Church in Enumclaw.
