Former Wilkeson resident Janet “Peg” Kepka, 93, died Feb. 13, 2019. She died peacefully at her home in Washington, Pennsylvania.
She was born May 28, 1925, one of seven daughters born to the late John and Mary Cunningham Adams. She was a 1943 graduate of Avella (Pennsylvania) High School and a 1946 graduate of Penn Commericial College, where she majored in accounting. She worked for several financial companies in Pennsylvania before joining a management team with Westinghouse Electric in Pittsburgh to establish the Westinghouse Credit Corporation; she worked for WCC for more than 20 years, retiring in 1974.
In November 1973, she had married George M. Kepka and, in 1978, they moved to Wilkeson to care for his elderly father. Both were active in the Wilkeson community, where she served as mayor from 2006 to 2009 and also served as president of the Wilkekson Historical Society.
She is survived by sister Leala Roadman of Avella. She was preceded in death by her husband George in 2009 and sisters Gertrude Buck, Olive Buck, Madeline Sickles, Harriett Patterson and Elaine Porter.
