John Aden Wilkening died Oct. 11, 2017, at the age of 95.
He was born June 29, 1922, in Riverton, Kansas. In 1948, he married the former Pauline Harris of Yakima, Washington, and they had five sons and one daughter. He had served in the military during World War II in the Philippine Islands, flying supplies to troops from Manila as a flight engineer. After the war he was employed by Boeing. Due to his serving in the Naval Air Reserves he was called back into the service during the Korean War. He returned to The Boeing Co. and retired there after 36 years, serving the last year and a half as a consultant and traveling to suppliers in the U.S. and in Germany, Norway and South Africa. He enjoyed salmon fishing and boating with his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Pauline; sons Stephen (LaDonna), James (Toni), Thomas (Tracy), Robert and Gary (Debbie) Wilkening; daughter Janice Wilkening Ross (Dan); sister Helen Sargent; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services took place Friday, October 20, followed by burial at Enumclaw Evergreen Memorial Park.
