It is with a deep sense of loss that we share that Jonathan (John) Michael Northfield passed away peacefully but unexpectedly at his home in Covington, WA on June 30, 2024. We are thankful for the time we had with him and for the loving goodness of God.
John was born in Enumclaw, WA on March 27, 1986. His arrival, with his twin, brought the number of children to 4. John’s priorities from the earliest age were laughter, playfulness, family and friends, all in the foundation of faith.
John was the most pure, selfless, joyful, kind, and funny soul. His smile could bring joy to an entire room and he found fun in the hardest days. From when he was a toddler jumping into the room yelling“ta-ya!” to the joy he would have giving a present or cracking up at a joke, he enjoyed life and people. Our memories are full of phrases John would say,
sharing his delight with others and welcoming them in : “Watch this,” “Come in,” “You Can,” “One more time” and “You will come back.”
John attended regular and special ed at the Enumclaw School District where he made life-long bonds. He attended Wabash Church since infancy and had many favorites there.
John loved classic Disney movies, Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street, music, card games, plays, hearing stories, camp, and playfully teasing his siblings. If you needed help opening a door or finding your phone, he was your guy. HIs priority was always and everywhere connection with people.
Since 2009 John had resided in supportive living, where his twin and best friendMatthew is a housemate. John had increasing health issues in the last years, complications of mitochondrial disorder. He brought joy and kindness to every hospital and doctor’s office.
John developed strong relationships with the staff and delegating nurse at the PSRS supported living agency, as well as his health care, DSHS, and employment support providers. We are always grateful for the loving care of so many throughout his life.
John continues to be deeply loved by his parents Jeanne Richmond and Jeff Northfield, his siblings, Toby (Kirsten) Northfield, Elisabeth (Jason) Harkness and twin Matthew Northfield as well as his nephews Noah and Nathan Harkness and Kya Northfield, aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Alberta and George Richmond and Carlette and Cliff Northfield. We look forward to joyfully greeting John again in heaven.
A Funeral Service will be on Friday, July 19th, at 11:00am at Wabash Church, 18325 SE 384th St, Auburn, WA 98092. A reception will follow. Please consider wearing red, John’s favorite color, or perhaps blue, Matthew’s favorite.
