Never Forgotten
You’ll never be forgotten,
That simply cannot be.
As long as I am living,
I’ll carry you with me.
Safely tucked within my heart,
Your light will always shine;
A glowing ember never stilled,
Through the end of time.
No matter what the future brings,
Or what may lie ahead,
I know that you will walk with me,
Along the path I tread.
So rest my angel, be at peace,
And let your soul fly free.
One day I’ll join your glorious flight,
For all eternity.

Joseph Michael Bode, “Joey”, was born on July 26, 1998 in Enumclaw, Washington and passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on the morning of February 20, 2025 at 26 years, 6 months and 25 days old. Each of those 9,706 days was a gift and blessing that we will forever be grateful for yet we will always wish for just one more day.
Joey was born in Enumclaw, moved to Jensen Beach, Florida as an infant where he lived for 10 years. He spent every day in Florida with his best friends, Kelly and Michaela and his “Mama” and “not the Mama”. As a child, Joey loved the show Dinosaurs and anyone familiar with the show will understand the reference. Joey’s childhood was spent hopping from pool to pool, nightly drives to get him to go to sleep while chasing trains with his Dad, frequent Chuck E. Cheese adventures with his friends, running after his dog Lady, and spending time with his Grandparents, Herman and Ruth. He brought joy and laughter to his Grandfather, Herman after his Grandmother, Ruth passed away. He helped to care for him and make him laugh. He shared his life with his friends from an early age, even allowing a friend to open all of his Christmas presents one Christmas morning because as he said, “it made her happy”.
In 2007 he returned to Enumclaw and met his best friends: Daniel, Sean, Matt andWayne. Joey and his friends were inseparable. He was a fiercely loyal, protective, loving and giving friend. He looked out for his friends and was always the designated driver, especially if it was a drive to get his friends together for a night of gaming or just laughing and hanging out. Joey added another best friend, Kyle, that he met while gaming. They spent countless hours talking and gaming and shared a friendship that meant so much to both of them.
Joey was a sweet, kind and selfless soul who was the kind of friend that a friend would like to have. He was the most amazing child that any parent could ask for and made sure to care for his mom and dad as much as they did for him. Joey was a young man that lived in the moment, loved fiercely, and made the lives around him better. He will be missed more than words will ever be able to say and while the world is greater for the life he shared with those that loved him, it will be poorer for his loss. The most important attribute of his short life is that he was an amazing human being.
Joey attended Enumclaw High School where he participated in Robotics club and the Running Start Program. Joey graduated fromGreen Rive rCommunity College with his Associate’s degree and continued on to receive his Bachelor’s degree fromUWin computer science. He is survived by his parents Joseph and Amy Bode, his sister Jennifer Tribbett, his brother Jordan Bode, his nieces Brianne Fink, Kiersten Fink, and Kylee Schoming, his nephew Evan Schoming, his Aunt Heather Schoming, Uncle John Schoming, Aunt Stacey Gallagher and UncleThomas Gallagher.
There will be a memorial service at Weeks’ Funeral Home March 8th at 11:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at Headworks Brewing from 1pm-4pm. All are welcome to attend. If you have any photos or videos of Joey, please bring them. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Joey to Plateau Outreach Ministries, 1806 Cole St., Enumclaw, WA 98022.
