Enumclaw resident Kathy Odette Hughes, 49, died Nov. 17, 2011, following a battle with cancer.

She was born Jan. 17, 1962, in Lamesa, Texas, and had lived in Enumclaw since 1987. She will be remembered for her contagious laugh. She played an important role in the lives of her niece and nephews, including serving as a volunteer at their schools.

She is survived by parents Frank and Judy Hughes; brother Jared Hughes; sister Katrina Shay; and sister-in-law Jessica Hughes.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Kibler Avenue Church of Christ in Enumclaw.
