Longtime Enumclaw resident, Nancy G. Steinbrenner, was born in Superior, Wisconsin on February 22, 1936, and God called her home on November 22, 2022.
She moved with her family from Wisconsin to Washington state in 1947. She loved Enumclaw, her hometown, for the last 35 years of her life. She was a kind and generous woman, loved to laugh, quick with genuine praise and compliments, and enjoyed friendly conversation. Coffee was always served with cookies. As well as many other accomplishments in her life, she loved her chosen occupation as a Kent School District Bus Driver and retired as such.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Virginia Mitchell of Twin Falls, ID; her brother, Thomas J. Steinbrenner of Vacaville, CA; daughter, Linda N. Shaffer of Enumclaw, WA; son, Glenn W. Shaffer of Ellensburg, WA; son John R. Filkins of Enumclaw, WA including two granddaughters, two grandsons, three great grandsons, and four great granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Frances Steinbrenner and the three loves of her life, Wayne L. Shaffer, William R. Filkins, and Leonard Getsfrid, as well as her daughter Pamela J. Shaffer and son Daniel R. Filkins.
A gathering is planned for August 5, 2023, 1 :00 pm, at the Buckley Eagles (29021 SR 410, Buckley, WA 98321) of which Nancy was a member for many years. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life while enjoying her favorite coffee, cookies, pie or fruit, and sweet stories of who she was to us all.
