Enumclaw resident Norman Schonbachler died May 29, 2019, at the age of 83.
He was born May 19, 1936, in Enumclaw, to the late Ludwig and Bertha Schonbachler. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for eight years. He had a career as an auto mechanic and finished his employment at Seattle Tacoma Box Co. He and his wife belonged to the Eager Beavers Trailer Club and the Golden Nuggets Square Dancing Club. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and joke telling. At the time of his death, he was a member of Lions Club International, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carole Schonbachler; children Rod Schonbachler (Deena) of Visalia, California, and Jodi Ellington (Reny Sunga) of Martinez, California; sister Genevieve Bolson of Enumclaw; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Frank, Pat and John and sister Louise.
Services are planned for 10:30 a.m. July 18 at Tahoma National Cemetery. A celebration of his life will follow from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Enumclaw Masonic Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in his name to Enumclaw Paramedic/Fire Department.
