Peteru “Sefa” Pedro Sr., 49, died Jan. 13, 2014, in Auburn, Wash.
He was born Feb. 26, 1964, in Pago Pago, American Samoa, to Siose and Faalai Pedro. He moved stateside at the age of 23 and worked with his father building buses and working in construction. He also worked for the Muckleshoot Tribe in Auburn and owned and operated Five Starr Construction. He was the first skipper to represent the Muckleshoot Tribe on the annual Paddle to Seattle. He enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, braiding his daughter’s hair and spending time with his family.
He is survived by companion Linda Starr of Auburn; sons Branson Nguyen, Peteru Pedro Jr. and Siose Pedro and daughter Dena Pedro, all of Auburn; brothers Levi (Vaalele) Taito of Graham, Wash., Tusi (Ferila) Pedro of Tacoma, Faitpe (Luisa) Siose of Auburn, Joseph (Daphne) Pedro of Samoa, Fernando Pedro of Sacramento, Calif., Benjamin “BJ” Pedro of Medford, Ore., and Johnathan Pedro of Tacoma; sisters Falelua (Thomas) Edwards of Bonney Lake, Luisa (Wallie) Pedro of Auburn and Sapati (Tuni) Toilolo of Tacoma; and father Siose J. Pedro of Tacoma.
He was preceded in death by his mother Faalai Taito and brothers Tagiilina and David Pedro.
Visitation took place Thursday, Jan. 16, at Weeks’ Funeral Home, followed by a prayer service at the Muckleshoot Pentecostal Church. A funeral service took place Friday, Jan. 17, at the Muckleshoot Pentecostal Church with burial at the New White Lake Cemetery.
