Enumclaw resident Dr. Robert Charles Canfield, 89, died April 19, 2011.
He was born March 19, 1922, in Forsyth, Mont., to Charles and Ida (Haack) Canfield. He served as a Marine during World War II and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in dentistry. He was a professor of dentistry at the University of Washington and also owned a private practice for 38 years until he retired. He married Connie Gunderson on May 26, 1956, in Seattle. Before moving to Enumclaw they lived in the Washington communities of Belfair and Sequim most of their married life. He enjoyed fly fishing and traveling by recreational vehicle; he also enjoyed opera and poetry.
He is survived by wife Connie; sons Mark Canfield of Idaho and Kirk Canfield and wife Michelle of Snohomish, Wash.; daughters Sally Canfield of Carnation, Wash., Kathi Rick of Camas, Wash., Kari Canfield of Redmond, Wash., Kristi Thomas and husband Michael of New Hampshire and Karyl Reynolds of Hawaii; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Gerald and sister Betty.
