Roger A. Martin of Enumclaw died June 21, 2016.
He was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Tenino, Wash., to Fred and Elma (Swigert) Martin. He graduated from Tenino High School in 1946 and immediately enrolled in the University of Washington, where he graduated in 1950 with a logging engineer degree from the School of Forestry. He worked in several different logging operations prior to his career at St. Regis Paper Co. He became employed at the St. Regis in 1958 as a tour foreman in the Hinton, Alberta, Canada mill, later became logging and forestry manager in Tacoma and then resident manager for the lumber, plywood and door division. At the time of his retirement in 1983, he was the division operations manager.
He had married Colleen Fisher in 1948.
He is survived by wife Valerie Young Martin; daughters Lynn M. Martin, Linda J. Martin, Susan G. Martin and Donita L. Martin; brother Fred Martin; sisters Pat Boe, Jean Pettit and Mary (Steve) Webster; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by brother Robert L. Martin and sister Frances “Tinker” Miller.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
