Roma A. Schodde, 96, of Shelton, Wash., died Aug. 20, 2016.
She was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Hoquiam, Wash., to Robert and Lorraine LeRay.
She was a homemaker, remembered as an excellent cook who made thousands of meals while caring for numerous needs on a large dairy farm. She loved to sing, garden, knit, sew, fish and travel with her husband, Walter. They spent time in Arizona during the winter and she was a member of the Yuma Community Choir. She was active at Community Presbyterian Church of Buckley for decades. She was the inspiration for Harmony Hill’s cancer retreat program which has served more than 3,000 people.
She is survived by son W. David Schodde Jr. (Gretchen Helene) Of Enumclaw; daughters Gretchen Ann Schodde of Union, Wash., and Christine Varnum (Richard) of Ellensburg, Wash; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Walter Schodde, who died June 14, 2002.
A visitation took place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday Aug. 25, at Weeks’ Funeral Home in Buckley. A funeral followed, with burial at Sumner City Cemetery.
