Ronald Morgan May was born on January 4, 1936, in Tekoa, WA. He spent his 88 years exploring, learning, and loving every moment. He was a humble man, an avid reader, was filled with charming and funny stories of his time with family and friends, and often offered delightfully witty comments and jokes. Ron was a reliable, trusted advisor that could sensibly guide you through challenging times.
Ron was a highly esteemed school administrator where his smart leadership, advisory skills, and mentorship touched many lives. He was principal at Burton Elementary on Vashon Island for four years befor emoving to Enumclaw with his family in 1973. He was the principal at both Byron Kibler and J.J. Smith Elementary schools during his career in Enumclaw before retiring in 1993.
Ron was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed a good “pucker brush” road trip, golfing, and had a keen eye for photography. He helped crew a friend’s yacht from San Diego to Vashon Island in 1994, which, as it turns out, is no small feat. He journeyed along the Palouse River, from its origin to the Snake River, just to satisfy his curiosity. As Mark Twain once said, “Explore. Dream. Discover.” And that was exactly what Ron did.
Ron was a loving husband to Carolyn for 65 years and a proud father to Brad, Drew, and Ethan. He was also a happy grandfather of four and great-grandfather of four. He joins his parents, Morgan and Meijhi May, and his younger brothers Dennis, Riley, and Larry in eternal life.
He passed away peacefully in the late afternoon on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at White River Memory Care (formerly Expressions) in Enumclaw, WA where he had been living for about two years.
