Shirley Jo (Haarstad) Amburgey died July 21, 2012, following a long battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 18, 1934, in Comstock, Minn., to Edwin Haarstad and Lila (Hendricksen) Haarstad. She moved to Washington at the age of 3 and graduated from Eatonville High School in 1952. She married Rex Amburgey in 1954 and moved to Enumclaw in 1966. She loved to bake and enjoyed the many clubs she was involved with. She served on the Seattle Children’s Hospital Enumclaw Guild and as a deacon at Wabash Church. She loved planning events and worked a few years for the Professional Golf Association, planning golf tournaments in Washington. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending time at their condominium in Palm Desert, Calif. They shared a love for photography and spent many years enjoying their business, S&R Studios.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Rex, of Enumclaw; children, Denise Chevalier and husband Chad, Curt Amburgey and Brenda Klemann and husband Jeff; sister Donna Berumen and husband Bob of Burlingame, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, at Wabash Church, with a luncheon to follow.
