Sondra K. Peckham, 76, of Buckley, died Oct. 22, 2017 in Bonney Lake.
She was born Feb. 11, 1941, to Chester and Florence Thompson in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She married Rex Peckham June 26, 1957, in Groton, South Dakota, and graduated from Grossmont Community College with a degree in respiratory therapy in 1968. She worked for Kiser and Grossmont hospitals until 1975 when she moved to Buckley. She then worked for Community Memorial Hospital as a respiratory therapist. During her tenure she became the manager of her department and ultimately managed the emergency, nursing and laundry departments. She also became the infection control officer. Sondra was a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. She retired from the hospital and went to work at Enumclaw Medical Center. She retired again to the couple’s tree farm in Buckley and Rochester. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking.
She is survived by husband Rex Peckham of Buckley; sons Bradley Peckham of Tacoma, Lane Peckham (Nanette) of Federal Way and Bret Peckham (Michelle) of Desert Aire, Washington; daughters Lisa Gallagher (Chris) of Boise, Idaho, and Wendy Mahaney (Charles) of Graham, Washington; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter Leigh Anna Grover on March 29, 2915; brothers Ivan and Darwin; and sisters Audrey and Shirley.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Weeks’ Funeral Home, 451 Cemetery Rd., Buckley.
