With great love and fond memories, we celebrate the life of Velma Mae Vanlandingham, born on October 6, 1941, in Vernon, Texas. Velma was a dedicated woman of faith, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a loyal friend to many. She was a resilient spirit whose devotion to her family and Jesus were the cornerstones of her life. Velma relocated from Enumclaw, Washington to the pearly gates onOctober 29, 2024, and while we already miss her dearly, we know she’s making heaven just a little livelier with her quick wit and sass.
Velma spent the majority of her life in Enumclaw, Washington. She enjoyed raising her kids and spending her time loving and serving her family alongside her late husband Loyal Ray Vanlandingham. Velma’s home was a place of joy, laughter, and love, and she welcomed everyone with her trademark humor and warmth. She didn’t shy away from telling it like it was, but always with a twinkle in her eye and love in her heart. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Enumclaw, and a dedicated Southern Baptist. Romans 12:12 encapsulates the way she approached life and her way of encouraging those around her – “be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer”.
She is survived by her children Debra White, Dan Vanlandingham, and Kathy (Rob) Ivie. Her legacy continues with her beloved grandchildrenMatt (Kirstie) Ivie, Cody Hoferer, Amia (Aaron)McBee, Caven (Samantha) Vanlandingham, Trace Vanlandingham, Sarah(Anthony) Stair, and Billy Wiltfong. Velma was also a proud great-grandmother to Karson, Landon, Ellen, Synove, Harrison, Brayden, Eden, CJ, and Ezra. She joins her dear husband, Loyal Ray Vanlandingham, parents, James and Eva Golden, and her grandson, Vance Vanlandingham, in heaven.
