Buckley resident Vira Schmidt, 99, died May 9, 2012.

She was born March 24, 1912, in Pennsylvania. She loved the farm she and husband Fred built from the ground up; she loved the animals and especially her gardens. She was active in local schools and was a grange member for 66 years.

She is survived by four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Fred, son Tommy and grandson Ken.

A graveside service took place Monday, May 14, at Buckley City Cemetery.
