Wallace Raymond “Wally” Strickland died July 15, 2018, at his home. He was 78.

He was born July 29, 1939, in Seattle and grew up in Kent. From an early age he loved horses, cows, roping and farming. He received many awards as a young man for raising prize steer and continued raising cattle, roping in his younger years and working on his property until the very end. He worked in the seed, feed and garden industry his entire career and was currently working at Oregro Seeds of Oregon. He mentored and taught many generations the value of hard work as he led by example.

He is survived by son Jeff Strickland (Laurie); stepson Jim Wilson (Lisa); sister Nancy Dillman; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Pat Strickland, and son JR Wilson.

A celebration of his life will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Kelley Farm, 20021 Sumner-Buckley Highway in Bonney Lake.
