Wilbur (Bill) E. Swanson passed away at home on August 21, 2023 at the age of 82 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was born August 24, 1940 on a wheat farm in Chelan, Washington. Te area is still known today as Swanson’s Gulch. After many years of farm life, the family moved to Enumclaw in 1956. While in high school, he enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball. He met the love of his life, Loretta (Cooky) Schwab at the end of his sophomore year. Bill and Cooky were married in 1962. Tey started their married life in Burien, Washington, and eventually made it back to Enumclaw in 1976 along with their two sons.
Bill delivered packages for UPS and made many good friends on his routes. After thirty- six years, he retired in 2001.
Bill enjoyed traveling to visit family. He would fish in Alaska and make maple syrup in Vermont. He enjoyed watching all sporting events and working at the Huskies’ games fundraising for a local church’s youth group. He also loved planting a big garden and sitting on the porch, “watching the world go by Bill was a gentle and caring man who was devoted to his family and whose kindness made an impact on many.
Bill leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Cooky; sons Dave (Michele) Swanson and Danny Swanson; grandkids Samantha (Alex) Urpman and Nathan Swanson; great grandson Quinton Urpman; brothers Paul (Lorilyn) Swanson and Delbert (Ann) Swanson; along with several nieces and nephews.
