A ‘low’ 6-0 win over White River | Sumner girls soccer

Sumner's girls soccer team continued its undefeated streak of high scoring games Tuesday with a 6-0 conference win over White River.

Sumner’s girls soccer team continued its undefeated streak of high scoring games Tuesday with a 6-0 conference win over White River.

Astoundingly, team captain Sarah Carter—speaking in an interview Wednesday—said she considered the score low. (A profile of the Spartan defender can be read in the Courier-Herald’s upcoming Sept. 26 issue).

Indeed, the six goals are the least of the team’s conference scores, and the second least of all games this season, placing the “low” Tuesday result firmly in the category of Good Problems.

Kaylie Rozell shot the Spartans’ opening goal at the 7-minute mark, assisted by Ellie DeGoede. Kelsie Colman followed suit at the 28- and 29-minute marks.

Brenna Allsop shot a goal at 35 minutes. Ellie Degoede landed another at 67 minutes and Allsop brought it on home with another goal two minutes later. Kaylie Rozell provided two assists over the course of the evening.

Jamie Lange and Abby Smith both shut out the Hornets.

The Spartans are next scheduled to battle Franklin Pierce on the Cardinals’ turf Tuesday, Sept. 25.
