After a shaky beginning, Bonney Lake High’s baseball squad suddenly seems to be in midseason form, elevating its South Puget Sound League 3A mark to 4-1.

The Panthers went 3-for-3, starting March 23 and beating winless Clover Park 10-0 in five innings. Bonney Lake sophomore southpaw Joey Gamache recorded a no-hitter from the mound in the abbreviated affair, shortened by virtue of the 10-run rule.

Against Auburn Mountainview March 24, Bonney Lake pulled out an 8-5 league conquest thanks to the productive hitting of senior second baseman Colton Nash.

The Panthers led 8-2 in the top of the seventh behind the reliable work on the hill of starting pitcher Jared Charbonneau, but the Lions rallied for three runs in that final stanza making Bonney Lake backers a little nervous.

In the third game in the home stand, Lakes gave Bonney Lake a fight early Friday afternoon, but eventually went down for the count as Bonney Lake won 15-5 in six frames.

Panther pitcher Brian Davis went four innings, collecting his first mound win of the season, while helping his own cause in the process going 3-for-3 at the plate, producing four runs batted in. Gamache belted a first inning, three-run homer and two-run single.

Panther coach Mike Olson singled out the play of Nash, who is hitting ,429 and has been furnishing great leadership.

“I just like the way he is carrying himself in this young season, as he has looked good hitting, played wonderful defense at second base and really exudes confidence,” Olson said. “He has even been depended upon to make long and short relief appearances”.
