The solitary contest the Bonney Lake baseball squad managed to squeeze in before the relentless rains set in last week was an important South Puget Sound League 3A triumph for the Panthers, who traveled to Auburn Mountainview March 28 and caged the Lions 2-1, to up their league mark to 2-1, 3-4 overall.
Nate Potterf pitched the seven-inning distance for BLHS, scattering six hits and walking three.
Panther Chris Brown broke up a scoreless tie when he crushed a two-run, sixth-inning home run that pretty much salted away the win for BLHS. The Lions could only answer with one run in the bottom of the seventh.
The Panthers’ dance card is going to be quite full this week.
Bonney Lake was slated to play a pair with Decatur High, home and away, on Monday and Tuesday, then host Lakes High Thursday. Additionally, the Panthers will visit Enumclaw’s Osborne Field under the lights starting at 7 p.m. Friday, to make up a tilt that was twice rained out.
