The Bonney Lake High girls managed a split in South Puget Sound League 3A basketball action, playing two contests on the road.

The Panther girls darkened Decatur’s door Jan. 25 and jumped all over the Gators, springing out to an impressive 34-14 advantage by intermission, before easing up a bit in the second half and coasting to a 52-41 win.

Bonney Lake’s Carli Elwin, the SPSL 3A’s leading poured in 28 points.

Bonney Lake couldn’t pull off beating Lakes twice in one season Friday night. Despite Elwin lighting up the newly refurbished scoreboard with 32 points, Bonney Lake fell 64-61, dropping the Panthers’ league mark to 5-4.

The score was knotted at 31 points at the break, but a determined group of Lancers put the defensive clamps on BLHS, allowing the Panthers a mere nine points in the third period.

Bonney Lake rallied with a 21-point fourth stanza that fell just short and Bonney Lake’s overall record dropped to 7-11.
