The Bonney Lake Panthers kept their grip on a share of first place in the South Puget Sound League 3A soccer standings with two more victories.

The Bonney Lake Panthers kept their grip on a share of first place in the South Puget Sound League 3A soccer standings with two more victories.

The Panthers slipped past Decatur High 2-1 during a home contest Thursday and had blanked the Peninsula Seahawks 3-0 Oct. 12.

With the victories, Bonney Lake improved to 5-1 in league play, the same as Auburn Mountainview, and went to an impressive 11-1 overall.

A crucial contest was played Tuesday, when Bonney Lake traveled to Auburn Mountainview; results came too late for this issue but will be posted Wednesday morning at www.courierherald.com.

Thursday’s victory over Decatur didn’t come easy, as the Gators maintained a 1-0 advantage well into the second half. The Panthers tied the game at 66 minutes on a goal by Madison Adams, then received the game-winner from Adams eight minutes later.

When Bonney Lake traveled to Peninsula High Oct. 12, the victory came courtesy of two goals by Savannah Moorehouse and one by Carly Mingo.
