Bonney Lake High’s Kelsi Potterf placed fourth in the all-around competition Jan. 20, as the Panthers joined Sumner High, Emerald Ridge and Auburn Riverside in prep gymnastics action.
The meet, staged in the Emerald Ridge gymnasium, saw the host Jaguars take first place with a team score of 159.6. Auburn Riverside was second with 155.6, followed by Bonney Lake with 143 and Sumner with 121.4.
Potterf’s all-around score of 31,45 was based on a second-place showing on the beam, 8.35, a tie for fifth in the vault, 8.2, a tie for third, 8.5, in the floor exercise and 13th in the bars, 6.4.
Also finishing in the top 10 in the all-around were Bonney Lake’s Kelsey Wells-Henderson, who finished eighth, and Alex Brown, 10th. Wells-Henderson tied for seventh in the vault, 8.1, was fifth on the beam, 7.35, ninth on the bars, 6.9, and was 11th in the floor exercise, 7.9. Brown wound up tied for fifth in the vault, 8.2, was sixth on both the beam, 7.3, and bars, 7.1, and was 16th in the floor exercise, 7.3.
The leading performer for Sumner High – which competed without top gymnast Lisbet Fernandez – was Aja Ruswick, who placed 12th in the all-around. She was 12th in the floor exercise, 7.7, tied for 13th in the vault, 7.8, was 15th in the bars, 6.2, and was 21st on the beam, 6.15.
The Bonney Lake and Sumner High gymnasts compete again at 7 tonight, Wednesday. The Panthers will host the meet that also features the Tahoma Bears.
