Bonney Lake High’s vaunted fastpitch girls remained the queens of the South Puget Sound League 3A diamond for yet another week after pouncing on a pair of talented pitchers from Franklin Pierce March 31 and White River Thursday.
At Franklin Pierce, Bonney Lake accumulated a dozen hits against sophomore windmiller Kelli Crawford, generally thought of as one of the more accomplished pitchers in the SPSL 3A. Bonney Lake won that encounter 10-6.
Panther junior center fielder Taylor Watkins went 4-for-4 at the plate and sophomore pitcher Courtney Franz blasted what is believed to be the first homer of the season against Crawford.
Thursday, Bonney Lake beat White River 9-5 to end the week with a 7-0 league mark.
This time it was freshman pitcher Kayla Wells toeing the slab. She was helped by her teammates’ 17 hits, with senior slugger Sammy Ebner and sophomore swinger Jacqui Courneya both going 3-for-3.
