Bonney Lake High School’s head football coach is about to get some national attention.
Chad Barrett this week was selected to coach at the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Barrett was selected as one of seven assistant coaches for the West squad, and is only the third coach from Washington State to ever receive this honor.
District officials said they were proud of the selection and that it reflected well on the school and district as a whole.
“Being recognized to coach in this game is not only a huge professional honor for me, but an even greater tribute the culture of achievement at our school and in our district,” Barrett said.
“Chad’s selection for this honor reflects on our high expectations for excellence in all of our programs at Bonney Lake High School,” Principal Linda Masteller said in a press release.
Barrett, known as one of the most innovative high school coaches in the state, has coached the Bonney Lake High School Panther football team for three years, and has a record of 19-9. In just 3 years, the program has grown to more than 100 participants.
The 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and features the top 90 senior high
school football players from around the country in an East versus West game
format.
The game will be broadcast nationally by NBC.
