For the second-straight year, Bonney Lake High senior Alex Ellis will tee off at the Class 3A state golf tournament. She’s hoping teammates Tracy Hare and Courtney Bartlett will be joining her May 27 and 28 at the Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland, Wash.

Hare and Bartlett are scheduled to hit the fairways at Eagle Pride Golf Course, formerly Fort Lewis, Monday morning. The top golfers from the West Central/Southwest District tournament will advance to state.

Ellis, the South Puget Sound League Golfer of the Year, earned her spot at the state tournament by tying Rachel Lewis from Peninsula for fourth place during the South Puget Sound League/Western Cascade Conference girls golf tournament at Tacoma’s Chambers Bay Golf Course in October.

Bonney Lake’s boys golf team also has an opportunity to compete at the state tournament. Seniors Chris Lumsden and Anthony McDonald were set to grab their clubs and head to Eagle Pride Golf Course Monday morning as well. They, too, have a chance to take one of the last spots at the state tournament, scheduled for May 27 and 28 at Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland.
