Bonney Lake improves to 3-1 with win over Lions

The Panthers beat Auburn Mountainview 42-32 on the road Dec. 16. The victory puts the girls in third place in the South Puget Sound League 3A with a 3-1 record and a 5-1 record overall. Enumclaw and White River are tied at the top with 3-0 records.

Bonney Lake outscored the Lions in three of the four quarters. The Panthers took a 5-4 advantage in the first quarter and outscored the Lions 15-10 in the second to go into the halftime break with a 20-14 lead.

In the third frame, the Panthers scored 16 and the Lions scored 10. Bonney Lake scored six in the fourth and the Lions had 10.

Marcel Pounds and Rochelle Murray were the leading scorers for the Panthers. Pounds dropped in 17 points and Murray hit for 15.

Tiara Killmer put up six.

Carli Elwin and Rachel Wiegand both scored two.

The Panthers game against Lakes scheduled for Friday at home was canceled due to snow.

Bonney Lake is scheduled to host Bremerton High 7 p.m. Tuesday in a nonleague game.

The Panthers will travel to Franklin Pierce for a 7 p.m. game Jan. 6.
