The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. and Q13 Fox today announced T.J. Potts of Bonney Lake High School as the week nine CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week.
Potts will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Potts, a junior at Bonney Lake, was selected Athlete of the Week based on his dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership and athletic performance. Potts holds a 3.75 GPA and is currently taking AP U.S. History, Pre-Calculus, Chemistry and French this semester. He passed the AP Human Geography test as a Sophomore last year and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Potts is also a member of the Bonney Lake High School Chamber choir, in addition to volunteering at the Bonney Lake High School Panthers Youth Football Camp and serving the community at Beautify Bonney Lake. He is also the ASB Junior Class Senator.
On the football field, Potts is a second-year varsity letterman after being named captain for both the Freshman and junior varsity team, in addition to currently holding a junior leadership position on the team.
T.J. starts at outside linebacker and has just completed a successful season with 61 tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and an interception.
As high school athlete of the week, the student-athlete will also be recognized at their school in front of their family, peers and teachers. They will also receive a $1,000 grant from CenturyLink and the Seahawks for their school’s ASB fund, in addition to media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, and a customized 2012 Nike Seahawks jersey.
