More than 160 players turned out for the first day of fall football practice at Bonney Lake and Sumner high schools.
Sumner, under head coach Keith Ross, took advantage of the cooler morning temperatures and held the first the team’s two-a-day practices Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Sunset Chev Stadium.
The Spartans, dressed in shorts and t-shirts, mostly went through conditioning and agility drills.
The players returned to the field at 3 p.m. for a two-and-a-half hour workout under warmer temperatures.
Wednesday’s temperature reached the low 90s, the eighth time temperatures has passed the 90-degree mark this summer.
Ross said on Saturday, his team will be in full uniform.
New head coach Chad Barrett held his first fall practice in the afternoon for three hours. Most of the Panther players were dressed in helmets, jerseys and shorts.
