The Sumner Soccer Club Sumner Explosion girls U-13 team won the Tacoma Pierce Junior Soccer Association championship on Sunday, Dec. 15.

“These ladies have played hard all season.” coach Patricia Cullip said.

The team finished the season undefeated winning all 12 regular season games and two postseason games, overall the Explosion outscored its opponents 89-7.

The club team has 17 players half of them from Bonney Lake and the other half coming from Sumner.

In the postseason, the Sumner Explosion beat the Lakewood Seagals 4-0 in the semifinals and the Dynamite 3-0 in the finals.

“Undefeated seasons do not happen very often in sports, you need to cherish it when it happens,” Cullip said.
