Bonney Lake High watched a 10-point lead disappear in the second half as the Clover Park Warriors rallied for a 50-44 win in South Puget Sound League 3A action Dec. 11 in Bonney Lake.
Hunter Colegrove hit a free throw with 2 minutes, 6 seconds remaining to give Bonney Lake a 44-43 margin. But the Warriors finished with a 7-0 run to seal the win.
After Clover Park took a 45-44 lead, the Warriors converted two consecutive steals for baskets.
“They came out in the second half and pressured us more and they did a good job getting rebounds,” Panther coach John Hofstrand said. “We have to play better defense and we gave up way too many easy baskets.”
The Panthers took a 28-18 lead into intermission behind a trio of three-point baskets from Ramsey Thoms and four points from Nathan Braun.
Thoms finished the game with a team-high 16 points.
Four Panthers hit in double figures as Bonney Lake downed Peninsula 76-65 in league action Dec. 8 in Purdy.
Thoms finished with 18 and Chad Marquez hit 14, while Braun and Cody Hefford added 12 each for the Panthers.
Bonney Lake will host Lakes at 7 p.m. Thursday in SPSL 3A action.
