Packer earns golf title in Tacoma

Sean Packer, playing out of Tapps Island Golf Course, won the Tacoma City Amateur Sunday at the Olympia Country and Golf Club.

Packer finished the three-day tournament with an even-par 71. His 209-stroke performance for the three rounds was 5-under par and four strokes ahead of second place.

He shot a 71 the first day, June 19, at Capitol City Golf Course, and 69, June 20, at Lake Spanaway Golf Course.

It was the second time he has won the event.
