Casey Adcox and Darin Mott have been named Sumner School District’s Coaches of the Year.
The two were awarded at the annual coaches’ training luncheon Aug. 14.
Adcox, of Sumner High School, coaches golf and baseball.
“Very uniquely, golf plays its season in the fall, takes a break in the middle of the year, then has its postseason in the spring season,” Athletic Director Tim Thomsen said, when reporting the awards to the district’s board of directors. “And by that time, Casey was also coaching the baseball team in their spring season and he had to handle both at about the same time. The baseball team, while they got fourth place in league, Casey went from there and took them all the way to state. He’s an outstanding coach as far as building a team and building character.”
Mott is the girls soccer coach for Lakeridge Middle School, as well as a language arts and social studies educator.
“Darin’s forte is really building team,” Thomsen said. “He’s good at setting high standards for his athletes and getting them to meet those standards. He has a great rapport with his student athletes.”
Mott added: “I love coaching in this district. I love our students, and I’m really proud to be a part of the Lakeridge staff.”
