The Plateau’s Chinook Little League All-Stars advanced to the quarterfinal round of the state tournament Monday afternoon after posting a tough 3-2 victory over Greater Richland.
The 10-team state tourney for “intermediate” players (13 and 14 years old) is being staged at South Hill’s Heritage Recreation Center. Games will be played every day this week with the championship battle on Saturday.
With victories over Redmond West and Greater Richland under their belts, the Chinook squad gets a day off. At 3 p.m. Wednesday the Plateau-based squad will challenge either Elma or Glenwood. The winner of that one will head to the semifinals; the other drops into the consolation bracket, but stays alive in the title hunt.
