Chinook on to Little League state competition

South Hill put up a fight, but Chinook won the final game 3-2, earning a state berth.

By winning two of three district games, the Chinook Little League squad qualified for the state tournament and will begin play July 6.

The “intermediate” division, for players 13 and younger, will conduct state games at South Hill’s Heritage Park Recreation Center. The tourney is a double-elimination affair that runs through July 13.

The Chinook crew earned its state berth by defeating a South Hill team in a three-game, District 10 series. Chinook won the opener 15-10 on June 13 but fell to the South Hill bunch 10-3 the following evening. The June 18 tie-breaker, with a state berth on the line, saw Chinook on the victorious end of a 3-2 decision.

All three district contests were hosted by Chinook Little League at the historic diamond at the Enumclaw Expo Center.

Making up the Chinook roster are Gavin An, CJ Anderson, Scott Fardig, Luke Hanson, Madden Kennedy, Rylen McDaneld, Masyn McMillen, Sawyer O’Grady, Casey Ruda, Henry Schweickert, Wyatt Stombaugh, Beckham Toone and Micah Wagoner. Coaches are Xavier McMillen, Tyson Briggs and Eric Hanson.
