Sumner High’s boys swim and dive team took fifth place among 13 teams at the Lakes High School SPSL Championship, held Friday and Saturday.
Connor Powers-Hubbard made the state cut in the 100-yard freestyle, taking second with a personal best time of 50.65 seconds. He also took third in the 100 breaststroke with 1 minute 2.57 seconds.
Severn Anderson took eighth in the same event with 1:11.36.
Sam Parks took sixth and a personal best time in the 200 individual medley, with 2:25.27.
Reid Selmer posted a personal best 26.65 seconds in the 50 freestyle. Leandro Olivieri took 12th in that event with 25.24.
Olivieri took 10th in the 100 freestyle with 56.62 seconds.
Josh Goodsell took 12th in the 500 freestyle with 6:07.45.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Powers-Hubbard, Olivieri, Sam Parks and Devin Drobney took fifth and posted a personal best 1:42.41.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Olivieri, Anderson, Drobney and Powers-Hubbard took fourth and posted a personal best of 3:48.40.
The team goes to Lindbergh High School this coming Friday and Saturday for the West Central District III 2A meet. Powers-Hubbard is seeded first for the 100 breaststroke.
