Theresa Edwards won the 800 and 1,600 meter races as the Bonney Lake High girls defeated White River and North Thurston in a three-team meet March 25 at Panther Field.

The Panthers nipped White River 79-67 and beat North Thurston 82-63.

Edwards solidified her reputation as one of the top distance runners in the South Puget Sound League 3A and a contender for district honors and beyond.

She finished the 800 in 2 minutes, 30.03 seconds and the 1,600 in 5:29.81.

Bonney Lake captured the final distance race as Veronica Stinnett won the 3,200 in 11:59.43.

Leslie Cannon and Emma Martin were 1-2 in the 400 at 1:06.34 and 1:08.16, respectively.

Taylor Howick took second in the 100 and 400 dash. She ran a 14.13 in 100 and 29.15 in the 200.

In the 110-meter hurdles, four Panther runners finished in the top five. Kimber Kober was second at 17.32, Leslie Cannon was third at 17:37, Izzy Meyer fourth at 17:47 and Shelby Rowland was fifth at 17:77.

Meyer was second in the 300 hurdles at 51.30 and Kober was third at 52.86.

Bonney Lake won the 4×400 relay in 4:20.87 and was third in the 4×200 at 2:04.91.

In the field event, the Panthers won three of the seven events. Natasha Lyonias won the shot put with a throw of 34-9.5. Howick was first in the long jump at 14-6 and Cannon won the triple jump at 31-2.

Boys

The Bonney Lake boys had mixed success, beating North Thurston 95-46 but falling to the Hornets 89-55.

In the 100-meter dash, Bonney Lake’s Tevante Christian, Taylor Brown and Hunter Colegrove finished 1-2-3 with Christian recording a first-place time of 12.22.

The Panthers had second-place finishes in the 200 and 400. Eric Schroeder had a 24.43 in the 200 and Cale Snider posted a time of 52.15 in the 400.

In the 1,600, Bonney Lake’s Brandon Baumchen led most of the race until White River’s Marcus Dickson ran the Panther down the final stretch and won at 4:36.19. Baumchen’s time was 4:38.44.

Cory Richardson was second in the 800 at 2:12.76 and in the 3,200 at 10:36.0.

Ben Hansen finished second in both hurdle events. He ran a 19.83 in the 110 and 46.03 in the 300.

The Panthers’ 4×100 relay team of Colegrove, Schroeder, Snider and Brown took first at 45.60.

Schroeder, Christian, Baumchen and Brandon Barnett took second in the 4×400 relay at 3:34.49.

The Panther’s Bobby Nix took second in the shot put at 43-8 and Jason Mower was sixth in the javelin at 110-7.

Zosh Zahnow was second in the high jump at 5-4, while Sean Smith was second in the pole vault with a mark of 10-0.

Evan May-Sciver was third in the long jump at 17-6 and Nathan Day finished fourth in the triple jump at 34-5.

The Panther boys’ and girls’ teams will compete in the Bill Harris Invitational Tuesday in Federal Way.
