The Enumclaw High School boys basketball squad dropped to 2-3 overall Friday when it hosted a crafty Capital High club in nonleague action and lost to the Cougars 53-42.
Enumclaw had a disastrous second quarter against Capital, in which it could only muster a paltry three points. As a result of that poor quarter, thh Hornets trailed at intermission 30-14.
Although the Hornets got the home faithful stirred up with a commanding second half that saw Enumclaw outscore Capital 28-23, the surge was not enough to make up the halftime deficit and the Cougars hung on for the victory.
Enumclaw’s top scorer was 6-foot, 4-inch senior forward D.J. Hitch, who poured in 16 points.
