The Enumclaw High boys water polo team has been busy, winning three games and losing one to improve its record to 4-3 overall, 3-3 in league play.
EHS began with a 5-3 win over Peninsula Sept. 29. Scoring for the Hornets were Garrett Hall, with two goals, and Travis Culp, Zack Petersen, and Bennon VanHoof with one goal each.
Thursday the Hornets lost 9-6 to Auburn. The Hornets scored first, on a fast break by VanHoof 36 seconds into the game. The two teams traded goals until Auburn took a 4-3 lead with two and a half minutes remaining in the first half. Enumclaw tied the game at five late in the third period, but couldn’t stop the Trojan offense. Auburn took the lead for good with slightly more than 2 minutes on the clock in the third period.
Scoring for EHS were VanHoof with five goals and Culp with one. Goalkeeper Josh Musick collected 16 saves, two steals and two assists.
Saturday the Hornets played a double-header, hosting a league game against Stadium and a nonleague game against Mark Morris.
The Hornets controlled the first game with Hall scoring on their first possession to beat Stadium 15-7.
Scoring for EHS were VanHoof with four goals; Logan Ross, three; Hall, Culp and Will Skelley with two goals each; and Alex Stopsack and Gabe Sales with one apiece. On defense, Musick gathered 22 saves Culp snagged seven steals.
In Game 2, EHS topped the Monarchs 12-8. EHS had scoring from five players, including VanHoof with four goals; Hall with three; Culp and Ross with two goals each; and Petersen with one. Musick had 17 saves and two steals and Ross led the team in steals with eight.
EHS was scheduled to face lAuburn Mountainview Tuesday; results came too late, but are available at www.courierherald.com. Saturday the Hornets travel to Tacoma for an 11 a.m. game at Stadium.
