The Enumclaw High girls earned a split decision during Sept. 28 cross country action, defeating Lakes 19-41 but falling to Peninsula 21-39.
Things didn’t go as well for the Hornet boys, who lost 22-37 to Lakes and 23-33 to the Seahawks.
The afternoon meet against a pair of South Puget Sound League 3A foes, was staged at the Enumclaw Golf Course.
The EHS girls were paced by Hannah Calvert, who toured the course in 20 minutes, 8 seconds to place third overall. Others figuring in the Enumclaw scoring were Chandler Weiman, fourth overall, 20:18; Peyton Vick, 10th, 21:37; Taryn Schreiner, 12th, 21:47; and Lindsay Ross, 14th, 22:01.
The Hornet boys were led by the fourth-overall finish of Cory Johnson, who finished in 16:48. Rounding out the team scoring were Alec Rhome, sixth, 17:38; Peter Berger, 13th, 18:12; Kevin Nelson, 14th, 18:13; and Caleb Gwerder, 19th, 18:31.
Enumclaw competes again today, Wednesday, traveling to take on fellow SPSL 3A squad Auburn Mountainview at Isaac Evans Park.
