The Enumclaw High Hornets kept their grip on second place in the South Puget Sound League 3A soccer standings Thursday afternoon with a blowout victory over the visiting crew from Franklin Pierce.
Scoring early and often, the Hornets rolled to a 7-0 lead by intermission. With substitutes playing substantial minutes, EHS coasted to a 10-0 win.
Juliet Bannerot registered a hat trick against the Cardinals and Claire Meeks added two goals. Scoring one each were Kaycie Morrison, Dani Streuli, Emily Meeks, Kaitlyn Trowbridge and Kelsey Howerton.
The victory pushed the Hornets’ record to 3-1-0 in league play and 7-2-1 overall.
Enumclaw traveled south Oct. 13 to pick up a 3-0, nonleague win over Timberline High at South Sound Stadium.
Finding the net for the Hornets were Emily Meeks, Noelle Bauer and Erin McCrillis.
This week’s schedule appears favorable for the Enumclaw squad, even though both games are on the road. The Hornets battled Clover Park Tuesday and take on the Lakes Lancers Thursday; both foes are in the bottom half of the SPSL 3A standings.
