Diving could be where the Hornets rack up team points this season. With state-qualifer junior Erica Bonthuis and coach Steve Bannerot returning, Enumclaw High gets a one-two punch. EHS is expected to add divers Lauren Clarke and Nikki Wilson too.
In 2009, Bonthuis was a last-minute, wildcard entry into the state Class 3A meet, where she finish 13th.
On the swimming side for coach Ann Bettencourt, sophomore breaststroker Bella Davenport, who was the Hornets’ lone state swimmer, finishing 16th, returns. EHS also returns Lori Lamm, Rachel Holston, Alexis Firlotte, Annie Birklid, Carly Hinman, Jamie Ritzdorf, Mackenzie Sherwood, Ali Ballard, Cassie Cook, Erin Wessel, Josie Wicks, Katie and Allie Larrea and Alina VanRuff.
Enumclaw stays in the South Puget Sound League 3A, but drops a couple key competitors including Sumner, which opted to move the the SPSL 2A. The season starts at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center with Sumner.
