The top-ranked Enumclaw High gymnastics squad added another round of victories Jan. 4, sweeping past Sumner, Bonney Lake and Rogers high schools.
The Hornets rolled to a team total of 171.05 points, followed by Sumner’s 148.11; Rogers High’s 137.35; and Bonney Lake’s 128.8. The meet was staged on the BLHS campus.
In posting yet another successful night, Enumclaw High gymnasts captured the top four spots in the all-around competition and six of the top 10. Taking the No. 1 spot was Maddison Ward with a total of 36.05. She was followed by Olivia Bannerot with 35.60, Molly Mattheis with 33.75 and Michelle McKinlay with 33.15. Other EHS gymnasts in the top 10 were Emily Berte, seventh, and Erica Bonthuis, ninth.
To earn the all-around title, Ward won the bars competition and was second in the beam, floor exercise and vault. Bannerot was tops in the vault, second in the bars, third in the floor exercise and fourth in the team. Mattheis and McKinlay tied for third in the bars. Mattheis also was third in both the beam and vault and fifth in the floor exercise. McKinlay also placed third in the floor exercise, fifth in the beam and sixth in the vault. Berte’s top finish was a third-place showing in the beam and McKinlay’s top performance came in the floor exercise, where she was third.
