EHS SOCCER: Hornets fall to Gators in shootout

The Enumclaw High Hornets traveled north to Decatur Thursday night and battled the host Gators to a 2-2 regulation draw, then fell in a shootout.

The decision pushed Enumclaw’s record to 2-0-1 in South Puget Sound League 2A play, 4-3-1 overall.

The Hornets’ Lauren Cary scored the game’s first and last goals, sandwiched around a pair of Gator tallies. Monica Whitfield and Jessica Snoen had shootout goals for EHS but it wasn’t quite enough.

Enumclaw had an easier time Sept. 28, traveling to Purdy to defeat the Peninsula Seahawks 3-0.

The game was close most of the way, with EHS clinging to a 1-0 lead that came when Nadine Huff scored in the 18th minute. Kayla Bunderson scored in the 78th minute to secure the win, then scored again in the final minute.
